Yes. ApexGuard Security Inc. holds a valid Ontario security agency licence under the Private Security and Investigative Services Act (PSISA). All of our individual officers hold valid Ontario security guard licences and are fully vetted.

No. Our security guards are unarmed. Standard Ontario security guards are prohibited from carrying firearms. Armed security services are a separate, highly restricted licence type.

Security guard rates in Ontario typically range from $22–$40+ per hour depending on the assignment type, number of officers, hours of coverage, and level of specialization required. Yes. We typically require a minimum of 4 hours per call-out or shift to ensure we can staff appropriately and cover our officers' professional compensation. Specific minimums may vary by service type.

Yes. We carry commercial general liability insurance and WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board) coverage, protecting our clients and our staff.

A security guard can make a citizen's arrest if they personally witness someone committing a criminal offence (Criminal Code s. 494), and must turn the person over to police immediately. They cannot detain on suspicion alone.

Generally no — not without your consent. Some retail environments have posted search policies customers agree to as a condition of entry. But a guard cannot physically search you without your agreement.

Yes, if you are on private property. Under Ontario's Trespass to Property Act, property owners and their agents (including security guards) can demand you leave private property for any reason. If you refuse, they can use reasonable force to remove you and/or call police.

Document the incident as thoroughly as possible (time, location, officer name/badge number, what happened). You can file a complaint with the Ministry of the Solicitor General, which licenses security guards in Ontario. You may also have civil remedies depending on the circumstances.

You need to: complete an approved training course, pass the Ministry's security guard exam, submit a licence application to the Ministry of the Solicitor General with a criminal record check and the required fee. The process typically takes 4–8 weeks. See our full guide for details.

Yes. We offer both full-time and part-time positions. Flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, is available.

Yes. ApexGuard officers complete incident reports for any notable events during their shift. We can also provide daily activity logs, patrol verification records, and documented observations on request.

Yes. Consistency of staffing is important for site familiarity and client relationships. We do our best to assign regular officers to ongoing sites. Specific requests are accommodated when scheduling allows.

We have a fill-in protocol: our dispatch is notified immediately, and a replacement officer is deployed as quickly as possible. You'll be notified about any delays. Guard no-shows are taken very seriously and addressed through our HR processes.
